I think the movie focuses more on the friction that exists between the hell house group as the events in the house start getting increasingly stranger. Supposedly this movie is supposed to be based on a real story. The waldorf stands in for the abaddon in the movie, with the movie�s subsequent sequels the abaddon hotel and lake of fire. The focus of the sequel is the investigation behind the deaths that occurred at the end of the first movie, particularly the members of the hell house crew that perished.
